Founded in 2015 by two brothers, Chris and Stewart Reid, Reid + Reid is based in the warm micro-climate of Martinborough, surrounded by the region’s
thriving agriculture and viticulture. They initially sought to challenge the perception of a “classic” gin by using and promoting native New Zealand
botanicals, resulting in their Native Gin. They now produce a range of gins and complementary spirits, such as their dry and red vermouths.

The brothers’ backgrounds before starting the distillery were well-suited to the endeavour. Chris worked in winemaking and became a distiller after his hobby became a bit more than a garage project. While
Stewart was an engineer with renewable energy expertise and became fascinated by spirits production during his time living in Scotland.

In a delightfully ironic twist, the brothers have a family
connection to the New Zealand spirits industry, as their great-grandfather Reverend Dawson was the country’s leading prohibitionist in the early 1900s.
